André Hazes (June 30, 1951 – September 23, 2004) was a Dutch singer and songwriter who is regarded as one of the most popular and influential artists in the Dutch music industry.
Hazes was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and grew up in the Pijp neighborhood. His father was a singer and performer, and his mother worked in a bar. Hazes showed an interest in music from a young age, and at the age of 8, he started singing in local bars and cafes.
Hazes rose to fame in the 1970s with his hit song "Een Beetje Verliefd" (A Little in Love). He went on to release numerous successful albums, including "Gewoon André" (Just André), "Met Liefde" (With Love), and "Alleen Met Jou" (Only with You). His music was characterized by his emotional and powerful voice, and his lyrics often dealt with themes of love, heartbreak, and everyday life.
In addition to his music career, Hazes also had success as an actor, appearing in several Dutch films and television series. He also hosted his own television show, "Een Avond Met André" (An Evening with André).
Hazes struggled with alcohol addiction throughout his life, and his health began to decline in the early 2000s. He died on September 23, 2004, at the age of 53, from a heart attack.
